I still have to pinch myself at the idea that I own a craft brewery; specifically one off the shore of Lake Superior in a place that I love and feel blessed to call home. I grew up in Wisconsin and graduated from UW-LaCrosse/Madison, meeting Wes soon after. We are partners in crime, partners in life, and partners, along with this group of truly wonderful and dedicated people, in building Ore Dock Brewing Company into everything we hope it can be. Outside of the brewery, you can find me enjoying UP life with Wes, our kids August (Gus) and Tess and animals Ringo, Elvis, and Smokey.
Originally from central Wisconsin, I have called Marquette my home for over a decade. In 2010, my wife and I began saving and planning for what would eventually become Ore Dock Brewing Company. My current role is part accountant, part accounts payable/receivable, part HR manager, part operations officer, part facilities manager… whatever I can do to help. Outside of Ore Dock, I enjoy spending time with my family, participating in outdoor sports… and working as a biomedical engineer for which I got my degree from Michigan Tech University.
Forever a troll – which really is an unjust assessment as I dare say there are a great deal more mustaches and bait-piles nearer to Alpena than in Marquette. Birth certificates and Merriam-Webster aside, “Yooper” is a state of mind. I spend most of my free time pretending to be a dog. So it’s best not to stare or bother me while I am eating. The rest of my days revolve around the noble task of helping water become what it wants to be. After all, in my experience, beer pairs well with life.
I grew up on the beautiful shores of Lake Huron in Alpena, MI. Studied Biology at NMU and worked for the US Fish and Wildlife Service out West, and then returned to Marquette to continue work involving the invasive Sea Lamprey. In 2013 I took a job with a cellulosic ethanol startup plant making Biofuel in Alpena. I have always enjoyed home brewing, and really defined my skills and recipes in the 9 years of enjoying that hobby. I took the wealth of knowledge from both the ethanol plant and home brewing and couldn’t be happier being back in Marquette brewing. Work is only work until you love your job.
I am native to this beautiful paradise we are lucky enough to call home, Marquette. I have spent my entire life along the shores of Mother Superior and my love for this Community combined with my passion for quality craft beer led me to where are I am today. I am a cellarman and beertender for Ore Dock Brewing Company and it doesn’t get any more “Superior Sourced” than me.
Veteran of the USMC with two Iraq deployments. Afterward, I earned an English degree from WMU. But before I graduated and moved, I married a wonderful woman, Liz. We have two precious children, Jackson and Mallory. We landed in the U.P. where I’m from. Initially I was a stay-at-home Dad, but eventually found my calling in beer, which led to more education at Siebel Institute of Technology and a job at the Ore Dock on the bottling line and door check. The only things better than our beer are the people who make it all possible.
With roots in the Midwest and a dash of island life on Hawaii’s big island, I’ve lived on the shores of Lady Superior for the past 15 years and can’t imagine living away from that greatest of lakes. I joined the Ore Dock family in September 2015 after seven years coordinating events with the Marquette Downtown Development Authority and Northern Michigan University. A proud “Be Wild, Stay Wild” NMU Public Relations and MPA alumnae, my time outside the brewery is spent on PR pursuits like the Iron Range Roll, serving on the Board of Directors of 40 Below: Marquette County Young Professionals, cruising the bike path, scouring Kayak for flight deals and pretending I can sail.
I grew up in Cheboygan, just south of the bridge but made my way to Grand Rapids for college where my affinity for beer began. I made my way to the U. P. in 2008 and joined the Ore Dock family about a month after the brewery opened. I not only pour an amazing pint of beer, I also bring a love of sports to the tap room, especially when my Wolverines are involved. Go Blue!
Born beneath the mighty Mac, raised on the beaches of Lake Michigan, scraped up on the concrete of the city and lost in the expanses of the Wild West. I arrived in Marquette with a dog and a guitar and found myself a home beneath the Northern Lights. I go by Kris to the masses and Saint Doctor Kristopher Mark Weirenga III, Esq. to my friends.
My name is Dustin Holmberg from the sunsets of North Muskegon, MI. I’m the floor supervisor here at Ore Dock Brewing Company. They get dirty; they get clean. I used to come in here to read books. Now I peddle elsewhere.
I grew up in the greatest small town ever, Chassell Michigan, and have called Marquette my home for the past 15 years. I enjoy anything outdoors, good music, pasties and of course craft beer. Go Wings.
Born and raised in the U.P., I have a thirst for craft beer and being outside. I tend to like dogs more than people and can’t wait to have a lil’ pup of my own someday. When I’m not slinging beers at the brewery, I’m either napping, drinking, pounding pavement or sunbathing (which is only applicable for approximately seven days out of the year in the Yoop.)
I was born and raised in Marquette and it’s by far the best place I’ve ever been. I have a wife, two daughters and two idiot dogs. I enjoy graphic design (you can catch my handiwork on some of our band posters), identifying obscure actors and I firmly believe toilet paper should be fed over the TOP of the roll.
A beer-tending, chalk-slanging gal from the hills of Trowbridge and the days of Bazooka gum, roller-skates, Huffys, Busch lights, and pagers. I now split my adult days with a passion for educating folks on ways they can help mother nature as well as their budget by shopping eco-friendly, with a thirst for being part of the ‘good beer renaissance’ taking place in Marquette and beyond. During free time I love soaking up the moments with my two quickly growing and amazing boys. From running marathons to weekends at the rink, we are a happy go lucky clan, loving being part of this one of a kind community.
I’m a military brat, spawn of a Yooper and Iowagien. I have lived in 6 states from Alaska to Maryland but got back to the U.P., where I spent my summers growing up, as quickly as I could. I’m currently attending NMU, aspiring to get into medical school in the near future. When I’m not buried in my textbooks, I spend most of my time playing hockey, golfing, mountain biking, hunting and fishing, always with a craft beer in hand. The art of brewing these unique beers is extremely fascinating to me and I’m beyond excited that I get to work, if you can call it that, here at the Ore Dock. If you also have a passion for craft beer follow me on the app Untappd @jofrazie and share your favorite craft brews!
Frank here, your friendly neighborhood doorman. I’m from Fraser, Michigan but have been in the U.P. since 2007 and don’t plan on ever leaving. I live out in the woods with my wife, son and four dogs. If I’m not enjoying a beer (Paulding White) at the Ore Dock, then I’m either hunting or fishing. Next time you swing through the door, feel free to share a good hunting story or a good fishing spot with me.
I grew up in Daggett, MI and graduated from NMU with a bachelor’s degree in Media Production and a Biology minor. After a few years working for the Wisconsin DNR in Madison, WI, I turned my home-brewing hobby into a career. I interned at the Great Dane, before going back to school to earn an International Diploma in Brewing Technology, which included studies and practice at Siebel Institute in Chicago, IL and Doemen’s Academy in Munich, Germany. I returned to Southern Wisconsin to work for a few years in a couple of breweries before my family and I came back home to the UP.
Raised in the sticks of Menominee County, I am a part owner at Ore Dock Brewing Company and wife of head brewer Nick. Beer love runs in the family as our daughter Ruby was born on the day of the U.P. Fall Beer Fest (she waited until after it was over to make her arrival). I love family time, country music, all things DIY, crazy ideas, puns, cats, and buying people drinks.
Born and raised in Menominee, I spent four years at Michigan Tech developing an appreciation for Engineering, good friends, good times, and beer. I’ve been honored to be part of this Ore Dock Adventure – home brewing (humbly developing an appreciation for the brewing art), reclaiming a historic building (breaking things and painting stuff), and “beertending” on Sunday afternoons. Nowadays, I try helping out in the taproom without getting in the way (too much). Outside the brewery, I enjoy my work at RTI Surgical, time with friends, saunas, and enjoying this place we choose to call home.
I’m a Marquette native who fell in love with craft beer in the early 1990s around a bonfire on the last day of a Spring semester. It was Third Coast from Kalamazoo Brewing Company. I have a BA from Western Michigan University and a MA from Northern Michigan University. I’ve worked on the build out, tending bar, bottling line and a newsletter for Ore Dock Brewing Company. However, I really fancy myself as a master of festivals. I’m an English teacher passionate about raising my twin sons in the Upper Peninsula with our families. I enjoy all things bike related. Dietary concerns: beer and licorice are fat free.
Marquette has been my home for as long as I can remember. I am most at home on our beautiful local trail system. I am a graduate of Northern Michigan University with a BA and MA, which led me to teach in a local elementary school. As a mom of twins, it is blissful to end my day with a craft beer. My family is very proud of the Ore Dock Brewing Company from the first days of construction to the first beer poured. I am not the beer geek at Ore Dock; I’d say I’m the beer geek in training! My favorite part of being part owner of Ore Dock Brewing Company is to see all the community events that happen at ODBC.
I studied conservation and sustainability at NMU, and took away with my degree that finding quality of life in a resilient Community that connects you to a natural environment, is really what life is all about. Add Lake Superior sourced craft beer to the equation, and it is really hard not to find ultimate happiness here. I have been with Ore Dock Brewing Company since the day we opened our doors, helping to build our wonderful staff and fantastic music venue. You probably will not find me outside without my 2 spoiled dogs at my side, while much of my free time is spent disappearing into this pristine wilderness that surrounds my life in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula.
